Kids, Don't Read The Necronomicon

Kids, Don't Read The Necronomicon by wagnogueira

This took me right back to my childhood, staying up late at night reading horror stories when I should have been sleeping. For the uninitiated the Necronomicon is a fictional grimoire appearing in the stories by horror writer H. P. Lovecraft. I love how the boys imagination is bringing Cthulhu and all the other monsters to life. The artwork is fantastically detailed. In fact I would love to see this as a print hanging in libraries. It would surely help kids get into reading.

King of Clubs

King of Clubs from Branded Baron

I love poker, in fact I used to run poker tournaments for a living. As a result I have seen a lot of card and poker themed shirts. In my experience this one is unique. It puts the club in King of Clubs. I really love the violence depicted as this is what every poker player feels like after a bad beat. I want one.

Buddha Bot

Mr. Ohmz by John Sumrow

Meet Mr. Ohmz the Buddha Bot. Programmed to bring you deep tranquility. I love this tee for a few reasons. It brings a sense of fun and color to the steampunk genre which are both things it is generally lacking. More than anything though I just love the character. You wouldn't think it would be possible to get so much expression from a one eye robot but the artist has totally nailed it. I want one.

Mechanical Body

Mechanical Body from Kaft

Something really different today. This tee has a really unique mech punk thing going on. Looking like you are being held together with metal plates and screws may not be everyones cup of tea but I really like it. What I did find odd is that it is inspired by a movie, House Of 1000 Corpses. I have to admit that I have not seen it so I am not really sure of the connection. I only have this quote to go on:

"How could I, being born of such conventional stock, arrive a leader of the rebellion? An escapist from a conformist world, destined to find happiness only in that which cannot be explained... I brought you here for a reason. But unfortunately, you and your sentimental minds are doing me no good. My brain is frozen, locked. I have to break free from this culture of mechanical reproductions and the thick incrustations dying on the surface."

Qwertee Review - God Of Cosmic Horror

Qwertee

I have been following Qwertee for about a year now yet this is the first tee I have bought from them. Now that I have it, I am a little annoyed. I am annoyed that I waited this long and that the pictures here just don't do it justice. The print is fantastic, picking up tiny details included by the artist creepyseb. You can't really see it but the linework is black with a silver shading, which gives it an amazing hand drawn look. Even the preview pics on the site didn't really do it justice. The green of the shirt is also more vibrant than the pics show.

The shirt itself is a Gildan Softstyle, which I haven't come across before. It is a nice weight and really feels super soft. The print is perfectly centered which seems like a small thing, but I have received tees from large, well known companies where the print has been off center. It arrived in a black plastic envelope with the Qwertee bot happily grinning on the label. The real surprise though was when a little packet of lollies fell out of the tee when I held it up for the first time. Turns out this is something they do with all orders. It is always the little things that make our day and thinking about an employee folding that in the middle of my shirt blew me away.

Qwertee has a new shirt every 24 hours. Check them out for yourself.

Rasta Lion

DJ Jahman and Smokin Jahman from The Mountain

I love the fact that there are two different versions of this tee. The problem is I just can't decide which one I like best. The dreads on the lion are what sells it for me so it just comes down to preference. Unfortunately my preference seems to swing wildly depending on the mood I am in.

Spirit Of White Samurai

Spirit Of White Samurai by fourscore

Evey so often you come across something that just shouldn't work yet do. If someone had told me about a tee that featured a polar bear samurai I would have scoffed. At best my mind would have conjured up a very cartoonish image. That is a far cry from the pure awesomeness of this tee. The artwork is so incredibly believable that this could easily be a poster for the latest CGI Hollywood blockbuster. I love it.

Moushroom

Moushroom from Another Enemy

I am not sure if this tee is a comment on Americas consumerism, a dig at one of the conspiracy theories involving Walt Disney or something else altogether. To be honest I just don't care. This shirt caught my attention and made me smile. That is good enough for me.

Ninja Red Riding Hood

Ninja Red Riding Hood by qetza

I have to apologise as I didn't let you know about this tee quickly enough. I saw it as a tee of the day over at GoodJoe and now, just 7 days later it is no longer available. Guess it has sold out. Hopefully it will be reprinted but for now we can just add it to the denial file.

The Day The Saucers Came, Issue 2, Vol. 6

The Day The Saucers Came, Issue 2, Vol. 6 by Ben Templesmith

The concept behind this tee is amazingly cool. In fact there are four shirts, each by a different artist. Inspired by a poem by Neil Gaiman, each tee tells a different portion of the story. For those interested the portion of the poem for this one is;

Front:
On the saucer day, which was the zombie day, it was
Ragnarok also, and the television screens showed us
A ship built of dead-man's nails, a serpent, a wolf,
All bigger than the mind could hold, and the cameraman could
Not get far enough away, and then the Gods came out
But you did not see them coming because

Back:
On the saucer-zombie-battling gods day, the floodgates broke
And each of us was engulfed by genies and sprites
Offering us wishes and wonders and eternities
And charm and cleverness and true brave hearts and pots of gold
While giants feefofummed across the land, and killer bees,
But you had no idea of any of this because

Abstinence

Abstinence, 99.99% Effective from Snorg Tees

People a lot smarter than myself say that religion is one of the subjects to always avoid. You will alienate readers blah blah etc etc. I don't care. I think this is funny and this is my blog. If you don't like it go and find something else to read.

Hairspray

Hairspray by Jasmiini Ottelin

It seems art not just a case of art imitating life, but art is actually alive. I like the idea of a character bringing itself to life, possibly a little to much.

Exploration

Exploration from Venus Fallen

I pretty much stopped looking at astronaut themed tees a while ago because most just tend to be a slight variation on a well worn idea. It got to the point of seen one, seen them all. Therefore I was a bit skeptical when told to check this one out. After clicking the link I was pleasantly surprised. I have never seen an astronaut used as part of a propaganda piece before. The message treads a fine line between seriousness and joke, with nothing to let you know which it actually is. I like that a lot.

Zebra Splatters

Zebra Splatters by Olechka

Talk about turning the tables. Depicting an animal known for its monochromatic color scheme in such a dramatic splash of color is just brilliant. I love the loose splatter style that bursts out of the shape of the zebra making it look as if the animal has been painted on top.

Mantra

Mantra by Hydro74

The Buddha artwork on this tee is just fantastic. What really struck me though was not intended by the artist at all. The triangle and rings in the headdress have an uncanny similarity to the old V8 badges (Ford I think) still used by a lot of hot rodders to this day. It means this has a totally different (and to me, deeper) meaning than anything that was originally envisioned. I like it for all the wrong reasons, but I do really like it.

Ruler Of The Earth

Ruler Of The Earth from Ghoststar

To be honest I am not sure who the character on this tee is, or even if it supposed to represent a known character at all. I like to think of him as the king of zombies. I really like the way the king seems to reach out of the tee with his magic sword giving it a 3D appearance.

REVOLT!!!

REVOLT!!! by therichterlens

I am always excited when I come across a truly unique tee because it doesn't happen that often. While the subject matter of a hand grenade is different in itself, it is the symbolism that really struck me. The body of the device is all cracked like shattered glass or possibly concrete. The orange red splatters that give it definition speak of fire and blood while the pin is blank, as if it might not be there at all.

Take Me With You

Take Me With You by Kirsten McCrea

The poor cassette tape has left behind along with vinyl records and rotary phones. This mix tape has all your old favourites on it and wants to keep you company in the future beyond Ipods and digital downloads. It has unspooled itself to reveal the message "Take Me With You"

Vague from Disturbia

Sex, lies and vacuous, narcissistic, rehabilitated, soul selling fame whores. Get the latest edition of Vague, the international cult of media puppetry. The perfect tee for everyone sick to death of looking at pictures of anorexic supermodels that have been airbrushed beyond recognition.

Da Vinci Rock Man

Da Vinci Rock Man from Headline Shirts

The discovery of a series of previously unknown drawings by Leonardo da Vinci have revealed that the famed artist/inventor/scientist was even more ahead of his time than anyone realized.

"We knew that da Vinci conceived ideas vastly ahead of his own time, including helicopters, tanks, calculators, solar power, and even the theory of plate tectonics," said da Vinci biographer Irwin Nicholl. "But who knew that list also included cellular phones, hair-metal rock ballads and the Rotisserie Barbeque Platinum 5000 series?"

Oni Geisha

Oni Geisha by Pale Horse

The first thing that struck me about this tee is the subject matter. It is not every day that you see a geisha on a shirt. As usual Chris Parks, aka Pale Horse, has done a truly fantastic job on the finely detailed artwork. The red used among the monochromatic adds visual punch as well as imparting a sense of danger, especially when combined with the demon mask she is holding.

Church of Science

Church of Science from Sneaky Store

This really made me laugh. I love the thought that scientists are forming their own church to combat the superstition of the regular clergy. The tag line embedded across the top, "Trust Verifiable Evidence Only", certainly sums up how they think and could become a motto we all follow.

Balloons

Balloons from De Bellemort

I love the crazy surreal aspect of this tee. Skulls as balloons has been done before but the fact that lots of different skulls (including some animal) have been used instead of repeating the same one sells this for me. It is from a French site whose name roughly translates as Lovely Death. Rather fitting I think.

Australian Invasion Series

Australian Invasion Series from AnyForty & T-World

I am really excited about this. London based streetwear brand AnyForty has teamed up with T-World to bring you the Australian Invasion Series. Ten amazing tees designed by Aussies are now available. The one pictured here is by Ken Taylor but they are all incredible. Head on over there and check them out. You will not be disappointed.

Revenge Of The Radio Star

Revenge Of The Radio Star by Pedro Josue Carvajal Ramirez

Video only thought it had killed the radio star. After surviving the vicious attack the radio star recuperated and plotted the demise of video. This is revenge on a grand scale.

Bullshot

Bullshot from Sarkhead

I am really excited by this tee company Sarkhead because they are doing something different. The art on their shirts comes from real life graffiti art. They find it on the street, take photos, do some editing then splash it all over a tee. I really do mean all over. The thing that makes this company so different is the fact that they do all over prints, covering every part of the garment. It looks amazing.

Friendship

Friendship by Tangguh

This is one of those tees that really captured my imagination. Once you get past the surrealism of animals stranded on a small floating island, there is an amazing story happening. The zebra helping his enemy the tiger is a great metaphor for how we should all be treating each other. The fact that the tiger is pulling of his stripes shows that we may be hurt on our journey. It also helps tie the animals into the scene with its surreal aspect. The only gripe I have with this is that I would have liked to see it on a blue tee with some white clouds. That would of really given it a feeling of height and isolation.

Blood in the Water

Blood in the Water by ScottiRobinson

I thought it was well past time to tease you again with another shirt for the denial files. This one went up for voting on Qwertee when the site was quite new and for some unknown reason never got many votes. From there it just got buried under an avalanche of designs and faded into obscurity. I went and had a look to see if the artist had it for sale on another site and it seems he has done a disappearing act as well. His twitter page has not been updated in months. It seems that this is one of those designs that will never get printed, which is a real shame.

Cthulhu

Cthulhu by Stephen Bunnell

This is by far the best representation I have ever come across of the legendary Cthulhu and it is on a tee. It really brings Lovecraft's creation to life also and stays true to the literary description he wrote of it. Fantastic.
