The Elephant In The Room

The Elephant In The Room from Captain Kyso

When the New York City fire department decided to replace all the hydrants around town with elephants, after ground breaking talks with the Indian government, no one was very happy.

After all, even though they’d finally managed to get rid of two bit actors like Alexx O’Nell, they’d received a bunch of pachyderms in return, and these animals were now part of an environment social responsibility exercise, that few wanted to deal with.

For example, when Dumbo wanted to take a dump, the stringent no-poop-on-the-streets law required firefighters to shovel piles of dung into body bags. And that was just the start of their problems.

Elephants, by nature, are stubborn creatures. Since the folks at PETA had forbade the firefighters from poking the animals into submission, it would take the firemen ages to get to a spot, simply because the animals were distracted by the plastic trees in the shop windows at Barney’s. Also the firemen were hardly used to mounting the animals at first, returning home on most night with stiff legs from sitting bareback for extended periods of time during the day. We hear their wives weren’t happy with the effects on other parts either, if you know what we mean.

Something had to be done and quickly. The problem was belling the cat, or in this case, an unruly bunch of pachyderms. Rock, paper, scissors, to decide who?

Handlebar Hold Up

Handlebar Hold Up from Fuzzy Ink

You better watch yourself son. There is a new mustache in town and he is one hairy, gun toting, mean handlebar.

Poker Pleasure

Poker Pleasure from Barmetal

I am a poker nut. I have been playing the game for years and I even ran tournaments for some time for a living. It was fantastic to see the massive rise in popularity of the game a few years back. It bought a whole lot of fresh blood into the game. What wasn't so great was all the people trying to make a quick buck from it. Suddenly the market was flooded with shitty tees with clip art and lingo. I have seen so many now that I am always excited when I come across something worthy. This one is available in both mens and womens styles.

Leg Fries

Leg Fries from Insomniac

I love surrealism. It can have deep meaning or just be weird for the sake of weirdness depending on who is viewing it, as well as their state of mind. With this piece you could wax lyrical about consumer culture and sex in advertising, or just admire the fine artwork. It is entirely up to you.

Octopus

Octopus from Iuter

I adore how these tees make use of negative space and just a single color to make a massive impact. A brilliant example of less is more. With just the tentacles as a visual guide this could be Zoidberg, Cthulhu, Kraken or any number of things. My biggest problem is choosing which color to get.

Absinthe

It Makes the Heart Grow Fonder by Megan Lara

I really like vintage advert style tees when they are done well like this one, yet it stands out from the crowd for an entirely different reason. This is the only absinthe themed shirt I have ever seen. I want one just to look semi bohemian amongst the sea of bourbon and beer branded tees out there.

Don't Believe in Yesterday

Don't Believe in Yesterday from Agape Attire

This tee brought to my mind the Beatles song Yesterday. It is one of those songs that irks me because I just don't agree with its sentiment. We tend to look at past memories through rose tinted glasses, making them seem better than they really were. More than that, dwelling in the past won't get you anywhere. Turn around and head towards your future. It is going to be exactly what you make of it.
