La Nona

La Nona by Diego Verhagen

I guess you would describe this as pop surrealism meets steampunk, although to be honest I am not really sure. It is bizarre in a strangely comforting way. What I love is seeing something new done with the steampunk genre.

Thomas The Assault Engine

Thomas The Assault Engine by midgerock

This could be the greatest steampunk / pop culture mashup ever. Thomas the Tank Engine has gone all transformer and turned into a steam powered weapon of war. He really is a very useful engine. I like to imagine the show would be something like Wild Wild West 2 voiced by Ringo.

Buddha Bot

Mr. Ohmz by John Sumrow

Meet Mr. Ohmz the Buddha Bot. Programmed to bring you deep tranquility. I love this tee for a few reasons. It brings a sense of fun and color to the steampunk genre which are both things it is generally lacking. More than anything though I just love the character. You wouldn't think it would be possible to get so much expression from a one eye robot but the artist has totally nailed it. I want one.

Mechanic-owl King

Mechanic-owl King by Alex Solis

I have to admit when looking through thumbnail images I didn't give this tee a second glance, thinking it was just another owl design. There have been so many that my brain automatically blocks them out now. It was the title that got me to click through and I am so glad that I did. Confronted by the amazingly detailed steampunk style mechanical owl at first I didn't notice the mouse. I love the little guy up there, looking debonair in his top hat. It gives the whole thing a nice sense of whimsy, almost as if it is part of a childrens story.

Steampunk Cat Lady

Steampunk Cat Lady from We Love Fine

If you imagined Batman set in an alternative steampunk world then Catwoman would look something like this. Sexy as all get up. I really like the amazingly detailed illustration work softened by the watercolor style coloring. It makes it look truly unique which is hard to do with so many tees out there.

Fancy A Lift

Fancy A Lift from We Love Fine

I say old bean, my best friend took a trip to the moon and all I got was this brilliant t shirt. (You know it is brilliant because it has a mustache). I have seen a lot of steampunk designs but the cartoon angle used here is really refreshing. It makes it a lot more accessible to the masses, most of whom have no idea what steampunk is or even that it exists. Win.

Samstrich

Samstrich from 6 Dollar Shirts

I really like this tee but I found myself staring at it for ages trying to work out how you would categorize it. The best I could come up with is fantasy meets steampunk with a surrealist touch. In fact it actually reminds me of characters from the game World Of Warcraft. At the end of the day it does not really matter because at just six bucks this is an absolute bargain.
